Game Changer: Heated Jackets for Women

TURN UP THE HEAT!

Heading out for cold weather play, tailgating or spectating? How great would it be to wrap yourself in a heated jacket. Yes, heated. All Gyde jackets, vests and gloves for women are battery operated and heat up to 135° F. Does The North Face do that? Nope, sure doesn't.

There are five styles of Gyde Jackets and Vests but my personal favorite is the Gyde Womens Hybrid Heated Jacket. It's designed with three Microwire™ heating zones built into the jacket: one in the collar and two in the chest (one on each side of the quilted front).

The sleeves and back are designed with Polartec ™ Power Stretch Pro fleece, making it great for golf or pretty much any activity you do outside this winter.

Each jacket comes with dual mode 7 volt battery and wall charge. At full battery (135° F) you will get 2-hours of heat. But most people keep it at 50% and get 5-6 hours of battery life. But wait, there is more!

Gyde offers a Bluetooth Powered Thermgauge adapter and a super friendly app for your iOS or
android device. What that means is, for an extra $50, you can adjust the heat of your jacket with an app on your smartphone. They've thought of everything.

We have several customers who wear this for golf, but the majority wear it for spectating at their child's outdoor sporting events, hockey rinks, professional sporting events, walking the dog . . . shoveling! Basically, if you go outside this winter you will want this jacket.

If you have any questions, let us know. But we guarantee you will find a reason to go outside when you have this jacket.

Let us know what you think or have any questions.

Why Golf is Good For Girls

WhyGolf2

Because It’s a Lifetime Sport

With all of the options available for sports—soccer, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, ice skating, track, cross country—the question “why golf?” may surely come up as kids choose their activities. I know it did for me. As a high school freshman, I begged my dad to let me go out for the swim team instead of golf. I was looking for a “real sport” I told him.

By Abbey Algiers for GirlsGolf.org

My dad’s response went something like this: “You want to go out for a real sport like swimming? Really? What are you going to do with swimming in the future . . . go on a date with someone and say “hey, baby, let’s swim around this lake?’ No. You’re going to play golf. You’re going to pick a lifetime sport.” He wasn’t just pushing golf so I could go on dates, but I’m so glad he did make that point. He was right. Golf turned out to be a great social asset for me in many areas of my life. (Heck, I taught my husband how to play golf while we were dating.) Now, not only do my husband and I play golf together, we also play with my mom and dad. That’s a little more fun than all of us jumping in a lake for a swim.

True, I could’ve gone out for swimming and learned how to play golf later in life. But the truth is, the older we get the less time we have to devote to learning something as complex and time-consuming as golf. A friend of mine has four kids—all of them involved in about a million activities (sadly, none golf, but I’m working on it). Her husband’s passion is golf. Unfortunately, she doesn’t play and simply doesn’t have the time to learn it, much less get comfortable enough to really play the game. Another friend of mine is a pharmaceutical rep whose company often asks her to play on outings. Not only are these chances to play gorgeous courses and get away from the office, they’re also great networking opportunities. But guess what? My friend was a swimmer in high school and doesn’t play golf.

The bottom line is, golf is a social, lifetime sport that offers countless chances for adults to network and spend time with friends, partners and family. It helps to know the game—the rules, clubs, and mechanics of the sport—coming into adulthood instead of picking it up and trying to squeeze it in between work, family and other responsibilities.

As you and your child are considering activities, give the many benefits of junior golf a thought:

BREEZING THROUGH THE EARLY STAGES
It’s much easier to make golf mistakes and learn from them as a child than as an adult. Golf is fun but can be challenging at the start. If people start playing as kids, they work through that “awkward golfer” phase much faster than they would as an adult.

THE MORAL LESSONS
When you expose your kids to golf, you’re exposing them to valuable lessons in honesty, respect and integrity. Yes, you’re teaching them a game, but you’re also teaching them the rules of life.

PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE
Like any game, golf can be frustrating, but by learning to play it, your child will pick up good character traits and learn what dedication to a sport can deliver. Unlike other sports that can easily wind a kid up, golf encourages taking time to be thoughtful and steady. Instead of just doing, young golfers learn to think and get to know themselves both inside and out.

AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP
Teaching your kid golf is an investment in your present and future relationship with her. Not all sports offer you the chance to actually get out there and play the game with your children for years to come. Even if they don’t realize it now, someday they’ll look back and thank you for the exposure to the game and the time you spent with them. They’ll also be the ones setting up a tee time so you can enjoy a day together on the course, which, I have to say, is so much better than swimming around a lake.

Have Some Fun with Golf Channel’s “Relaxed Rules”

Beautiful golf player

Have Some Fun with Golf Channel’s “Relaxed Rules”

One of the most intimidating things about golf, especially for new players, is its strict rules. That’s why Golf Channel has launched a campaign to encourage golfers to consider a different, more relaxed, unofficial set of rules.

“When there’s nothing on the line but fun, recreational golf should be an enjoyable experience,” says Morning Drive co-host Charlie Rymer, who’s spearheading the campaign, which launched in 2014, with his colleague Matt Ginella. “Trying to remember and decipher the official rules can get in the way of a good time.”

The seven Relaxed Rules are:

1. MAXIMUM SCORE: The maximum score you can take on any hole is double par (that’s a 6 on par 3s, 8 on par 4s or 10 on a par 5). Once you reach double par, just pick up and move on to the next hole.

2. PENALTIES: All penalties are one stroke, including if you end up out of bounds, in water and lateral hazards, have a lost ball and an unplayable lie. Simply drop a ball near where the original was lost and play on.

3. SEARCH TIME: Take no more than two minutes to look for your ball. If it’s lost, just proceed under Rule 2.

4. UNFORTUNATE LIES: With your playing partners’ consent, your ball may be dropped out of divots or footprints, and away from tree roots and any other dangerous lies, without penalty.

5. CONCEDED PUTTS: Putts may be conceded with your playing partners’ consent.

6. EQUIPMENT: There are no restrictions to your equipment, including the number of clubs you want to carry in your bag.

7. COMMON SENSE: When in doubt, use common sense and fairness.

(We especially like No. 7.)

PINK 365: Get Active and Support Breast Cancer All Year

{ Available exclusively at Golf4Her.com }

HELP DRIVE AWARENESS

Golf4Her will donate 10% from the purchase of the Kathryn Skort to the Morgan Pressel FoundationFounded by LPGA Tour Pro, Morgan Pressel, the mission of the Morgan Pressel Foundation is to raise funds to fight cancer, primarily breast cancer, through early diagnosis, genetic counseling, development of new treatments, and basic research complimenting all of the above modalities. Monetary grants are made to Hospitals, Medical Schools, and Research institutions to accomplish the mission.

Morgan, a star player on the LPGA Tour, wanted to honor the memory of her mother,  Kathryn Krickstein Pressel who passed away at an early age of breast cancer. This foundation is extra special because Madison, Morgan's younger sister, is a Golf4Her Ambassador.

Morgan devoted herself to fighting this disease. In a short period of time, she has helped to raise over $3.4 million dollars to aid and support patient care and research in the fight against breast cancer.

In 2010 the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan, under the direction of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital became a reality. This mobile miracle travels throughout Palm Beach County providing affordable breast exams and health care to those who might not otherwise receive it.

In 2013, the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Lynn Cancer Institute announced the opening of the Morgan Pressel Center for Cancer Genetics. The center is designed to ascertain an individuals risk for developing certain cancers that have strong hereditary links.

For more information about the foundation, visit www.morganpresselfoundation.com

Help us honor the memory of their mom and other women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer with the purchase of this special pink rose print skort.

We launched the Kathryn Collection in November, because awareness should be 365 days, not just 31 in October. This Golf4Her Charity Skort is the first in a series of charity athleticwear, specifically designed to drive awareness about causes that impact the lives of women and the foundations that support them.

If there is a cause that is important to you, please let us know in the comment section below.
